Today, life is busy, but good. So far I am loving my 2nd job at the video store (the kids love it when mom goes to work because she comes home with videos). A perk of my 2nd job is that I get to rent 3 videos for free. However, if they are out for more than 5 days I am charged regular late fees. So I just need to stay on the ball abt returning them on time. Jewel and I watched Kitt Kitredge-charming and meaningful. Tink-which was better than I thought (I missed the last half of the movie due to dirty laundry calling my name) but overall I pretty cute little movie. I brought home the newest Indiania Jones which we hope to watch this evening.
Don't ask how far behind I am on laundry and dishes!!! I did clean half of Cannon's room Sunday after church (really good Genesis based sermon-Cannon even listened it was a very cerebral sermon. Cannon told me the only times he has questioned his belief system was when he was really hurt by someone and in science class while discussing Creation verusus evolution). Cannon enjoys reading books debating this topic so it was a perfect sermon for him-lots of interesting facts to ponder not just believe this because we say so. Okay.. back on topic.
I am a fan of classic movied- Come September is a good one for those of you who also enjoy classic movies.
Books- Insomina strikes me so I love having books handy. I finished Valerie Bertinelli's Losing it-much btr than I thought! Right now I am almost done with The Necklace 13 women and the experiment that transformed their lives. If any of you enjoy reading and get a chance please read this book-a very light read, but challenged how I think about jewelry and material possessions. Also, how and why we become friends with certain people and reinforced my idea (from the medieval society) as to possiblities for potential friends. I have made many friends in SCA that I before I would have had no exposure to. Because of the commonality of SCA I have gotten to know them as people aside from their personal belief systems most not only on the other side of my beliefy circle, but in another circle altogether. Quess what? I love them anyway. I have decided in the words of one of the Lutherans in the group, "I show them the love of Christ through behavior and acts of service." I have experienced this on a much smaller scale when I worked with a Wiccan a few years back. An actual goes to "services" Wiccan. It has been 11 years since I worked with her, but she still seeks me out when I see her in public and I just love her. She knows my beliefs so I don't lecture or try to force them on her. Don't get me wrong if anyone ever asks me what I think I say so, but I think my life should be the sermon, not my mouth. Which I'm trying so hard to talk less in general anyway. Talking and worrying are my "sins of choice" I'm so working on them but many prayers are made each day and typically I still fail.
The other books I checked out from the library are light fiction and my mom-in-law loaned me some Debbie Macomber books. Pretty soon the library ladies will not only recognize Cannon, but will also know me upon 1st glance.
I hope to have pictures from Halloween soon. Jewel did get to come to my office's trick or treat and my friend took her out around our neighborhood the actual holiday night due to Frankie and I both working. Cannon handed out treats at our house.
Speaking of Cannon-he went to his 1st middle school dance! Oh he was so cute!!!!!! I had just enough money to get him new jeans and shirts (thank you half off sale @ JCPenneys!). I took pictures of him. He was so nervous. He had asked 2 girls to go and 1 as a friend ,but they all said no. The one girl is home schooled and didn't go to the dance so I think she was raised up like I was (no dancing). The other girl had already been asked by someone and responded affirmative. The 3rd girl who is a friend did not want to go at all. He was very HANDSOME! He asked me to check to make sure all of the tags were off his new clothes. He fretted over how his teeth looked and if he smelled good. I gave him admission money plus treat money. The dance was from 7 to 9:30 PM. I picked him up at 9 PM. He had a great time EXCEPT- while slow dancing with his "true crush" he tripped over his own foot and landed on his rear end. He got upset and called to be picked up. Well, frankie and Jewel were home with the stomach flu and I was in town running errands. He got himself settled and went back to watching the dance and eating snacks, but did not dance anymore. I was sad for that. I never got to experience the fun of middle school dances and I so badly wanted that for him. After a prompt from me he did go back and tell the girl he had a nice time dancing with her and thanked her for dancing with him. She replied she enjoyed dancing with him as well. With Cannon I have few "blissful" mommy moments (due to him being a normal, stubborn pre-teen then when his mood disorder is mixed in), but I did that night. We posed for pictures, he was so handsome. We all gathered in the living room to listen to him tell us about the dance. He danced in 2 "dance offs" with another boy. He told me despite falling in front of his crush he still had a good time. He was totally calm when I picked him up. Both Frank and I expressed our sincere pride in how well he handled the situation. I told him someday he could bore his son or nephew with the story (he hates when he tell him abt the "stone age"). anyway.. I enjoyed Saturday night.
I am behind on correspondence-I don't mean to be rude!!!!!!! I appreciate the notes on facebook and emails. I vow to get caught up soon!!! (but I work major hours on Friday and Saturday so I doubt it will be soon).

Smiles to you all and don't forget to vote!

Jennifer
