Cannon has his gorgeous smile back. My spunky little Cannon got into a glider swing accident when he was 4 yrs old. He got banged up pretty bad; infact it even damaged 3 of his adult teeth which were still pretty far into his gum. This morning Franklin took him to get his teeth fixed. The dentist zapped his teeth with a laser and POW! his teeth are gleeming white again. Cannon is thrilled he came running back to show me his brillant white smile. (He had yellowish/brownish lines down his teeth).
The recorder concert was not too bad last night, but it lasted a lot longer than I'd anticipated- it included several grades with singing, band playing, etc.

2nd post for today because I forgot something very important. Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day- I believe it is a different date each year by the "regular" calendar. I believe over 6 million Jews died during Hitler's reign of terror which spanned several countries. A cool book I plan to read is, "Child of Our Time" by Ruth David- who as a child was evacuated to England and now lives in Iowa.

A cool quote to end today with (which has little to directly do with the Holocuast, but I love it is):

"Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world and all there will ever be to kmow and understand." Albert Einstein.

Waltons season 3 comes out on DVD today, not certain that I will get the chance to buy it right now perhaps later. Cannon has a recorder concert tonight at 7 P.M. I must confess I'm not looking forward to it. Last night Jewel had dance and Cannon got a bad migraine so between those two events and the huge collection of dirty dishes I scrubbed not much got done- I didn't even get to exercise. I did listen to 7th Heaven- pretty close to the end; the show was better when the kids were all little, but I still enjoy the show. Jewel and I have become Pepper Dennis addicts-when the re-run was on Sunday night she came out to the living room and groaned, "Mom you are watching it without me?". No baby it's a re-run. Oh- and off she went.
There seems to have been another delay in our nephew from Guatemala getting here; all in God's perfect timing I know, but I feel ready to see him. Jewel is anxious and asks quite often when he will arrive. The kids and I have been reading these "kid's devotionals", but I'm learning a lot myself. We are reading the 2:52 series on Angels and Demons.
That's all I know for today.

VEISHA--
Cannon, Jewel and I marched in the VEISHA parade; we had fun. Jewel (who wasn't tired at all so she reported) fell asleep seconds after buckling into her safety belt in the car and then slept for another hour after we got home. We watched the Society for Creative Anachronism exhibit (fighting) which DELIGHTED! Cannon (okay and Frank and maybe Rob too). Cannon wants to join this society NOW, but Cannon wants to do many things until he realizes there are so many hours in a day most of which he spends in school. Jewel was delighted to watch the swans glid around Lake La Verne and keep tabs on Robbie. Alright. really busy here at work so I should actually work.

I haven't posted in forever. Was home all day Tuesday and 1/2 of Wednesday with sick children. Thank the Lord Jewel is a complainer because I didn't realize how sick Cannon actually was. Weird statement huh. Let me explain. Cannon had been running a low-grade fever starting Monday night with lots of sneezing and sniffling and a minor complaining of a head ache. I find out he went to the school nurse for a head ache that afternoon at school, but she took his temp told him he wasn't running a fever, gave him Tylenol and sent him back to class. Well, Cannon's normal body temp. is 97.4 ,not 98.6 like most clinicians use as as 'standard' body temp. so he was actually running a temp then (my mom and I also have low body temps- funny I'm so hyper, but I have a low body temp and really low blood pressure-ironic) anyhoo... I continually asked him ," Do your ears hurt, does your throat hurt, does your stomach hurt, hows your head ache???" Response- "Okay, my throat hurts a little". So I figured it was just a virus, but he did look pale so I wanted him to stay home Tues and sleep, figuring Frank could monitor Cannon between napping. Well... then Jewel (who puts my dramatic flare to shame!) woke up Tues A.M. with ,"my head really hurts and my throat is killing me" and wouldn't drink anything. Well I'm thinking she is egging it up because she knows Cannon is staying home. Then I felt her glands and oh my HUGE... so both kids to the Drs. strep probably have to wait for 24 hr. culutres. So you see.. it is a good think Jewel is a whiner because I would have let Cannon for several more days with his symptoms before taking him to the Drs. Okay Jewel really isn't a whiner the Dr. said her throat looked really bad and it took a full 3 days on meds before her glands even started to go down and she did sleep a lot.

So... I haven't blogged in several days. It took me 2 days being back at work to be caught up enough to blog.

Have a Blessed Easter as we celebrate the joyous rising of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Hello ALL!

Well it finally happened-Frank and I are officially grown-up. HUH? Not the fact that we have two children, jobs, lots of bills, the fact that I can't stay awake past 11:30 P.M. Nope-none of them is the reason I now consider us grown-up. Frank, bless my husband's generous heart, bought a coffee machine!!! I now wake up to the wonderful, full-bodied, smell of coffee. Up until a few years ago I wasn't a coffee drinker, but I just can't drink diet pop in the mornings anymore, but definitely need a caffeine fix-so I've been getting coffee on the way to work or doctoring up coffee from work. I don't add a lot of "fixings" to my coffee, but my taste buds require the addition of chocolate milk or skim milk and sometimes cocoa mix to regular coffee. So sad to see youth slip past us, but it's official now. We're grown up.

Cannon makes me so mad sometimes!!!,but the past few nights while doing family devotions Cannon has closed the devotional time in prayer. That boy can pray I tell you! ; it's been heartfelt confessions of , "Please help me make peace with James (a bully at school) or at least make the best of things with James". In the same night's prayers he said, "Here we are God please use us for your work and your glory"- oh my. I about cried.

Then little Jewel prays for, "baby Alex to get here soon, for the 2nd Elizabeth to arrive safely and healthy (she has a cousin names Elizabeth and a good friend whose mom is pregnant with a girl whom they've names Elizabeth) and that Katie will be okay and share and not get jealous, and for the surprise baby (her aunt and uncle are expecting a baby, but they're not finding out the baby's gender so Jewel's decided to refer to the baby as a surprise baby until it's arrival. When she asked if the baby would be a boy or a girl I told her Aunt Mary had decided not to find out. "Oh so it can be a surprise!" Jewel replied, but I didn't know she would refer to the baby in her prayers as the "surprise" baby.) So hard not to laugh.

That's all I know for today. Please include in your prayers a the family of a soldier from Ogden, Dan S. who was killed by a road side bomb last night in Iraq. Also a friend's nephew, 2 yrs. old, who died last week from a brain tumor and another friend's step-niece who committed suicide at the young age of 21 yrs.

More later...
